Critics Slam “Scary Looking” Veneers as Teeth Whitening Backlash Grows (2024)

A HAIRDRESSER who flew to Turkey to get a new set of veneers has been told by cruel trolls that her teeth are “whiter than chewing gum.”

Georgia Fox, 20, jetted across seas as she believed getting cosmetic work done there would be far better than in the UK.

Georgia, who wanted to get veneers after always hating how her natural teeth looked, said she first saw a girl that went to a UK dentist, but they ended up ruining her teeth.

Georgia, from Scotland says: “People say that getting Turkey teeth is bad. I’m sorry but I don’t agree.”

So she jetted to Antalya, in Turkey and got veneers fitted on her top and bottom rows and documented her journey on her TikTok account.

In one clip, Georgia can be seen showing her teeth off which had been shaved down into a very thin shape.

Blood could be seen oozing from her mouth as she pulled her lip down to show them off, before getting the veneers fitted.

Since the procedure, Georgia has been thrilled with the results.

But since coming back, and sharing her results on her TikTok page – people have been sharing their thoughts on her “scary looking” teeth.

Others have said how “they’re white than chewing gum.”

“Can’t polish a turd but you can stick turkey teeth on it,” another rudely wrote.

“Wowwwww that’s the worst I’ve seen,” another commented.

“This is the worst you can do to your teeth and it looks absolutely ridiculous,” a third said.

Her videos have even attracted experts’ comments as well.

One wrote: “As a dental nurse this pains my core.”

She left some wondering why she has gone for such a white shade.

One said: “Okay but I want to know why everyone goes for the whitest shades though!

“Like get veneers but make them look natural or it’s an eyesore.”

Georgia has previously urged people to just leave her in peace.

She added: “They’re not in your mouth. You don’t need to worry that much. You’re all getting quite stressed, looking at my teeth.

“You don’t need to worry because they’re not in your mouth.Or is it just jealousy? I don’t know. It’s not a great look.”

What’s involved in getting veneers done?

According to Bupa, doctors will prepare your teeth by removing small amounts of enamel, but the person’s roots and nerves remain intact.

This means in most cases, your tooth or teeth will need to be filed down prior to having veneers placed.

There are no nerves in the enamel, but your dentist can offer you dental sedation, to help you relax.

Next, doctors will take impressions of your teeth.

A dental lab technician will use these impressions to make your custom veneers.

This isn’t the first time Georgia has had a cosmetic treatment done.

She has also spent thousands on a boob job, and facial fillers.

What are the dangers of going to Turkey for cosmetic treatments?

Dr. Omar Tillo, a plastic surgeon and Medical Director at CREO Clinic, says Brits must consider these important notes.

  • It’s important to have realistic expectations about what the procedure can and cannot achieve
  • Patients may need to wait for a certain amount of time after the surgery to allow for healing and to ensure that the tissues have fully stabilised
  • Many medical tourists will forget about the return journey and the complications that can come with long-distance travel following a recent surgery and flying within the same week of a cosmetic procedure can greatly increase the chances of blood clots
  • Patients should carefully review the potential risks and complications of the procedure with their plastic surgeon, and weigh these against the potential benefits
  • Patients should carefully consider the financial implications of the procedure
  • Sadly, the cosmetic surgery tourism industry is not above massaging the truth to lure patients to medical tourism hotspots, including Turkey, Poland or Thailand – what looks like a premium facility may really only be an illusion created by elaborate and aggressive marketing
  • Even if a surgeon is highly skilled, a patient may find that their expectations for their results are still difficult to communicate when they’re in a different country or time zone to their surgeon without even considering a language barrier

When she was 19, Georgia spent over £5,000 for her boob job and revealed that it gave her a big confidence boost.

She regularly documents her life on her TikTok page which has gained over 92.5k followers.
