I'll admit to being pretty skeptical when I tasted some of the components of this this (especially the green tomatoes), but once complete it was really good. I'll make this again in the spring when I can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen!

Made first time on 10/16/2016. Very good. Used 2 bunches of local swiss chard. Could use more onions than recipe calls for.

How much is a bunch? I have a garden, so another measurement would be helpful.

This was a winner, however I used Monterey Jack Cheese in place of Gruyere. Will defy make again . I brought it to abring a dish supper and it was devoured.

I made this with herbs, chard and green tomatoes from the garden. My honest opinion is that it is pretty flavorless. It needs more garlic, more herbs and an interesting sauce. Maybe a Turkish roasted red pepper sauce.

Ripe green tomatoes would be a variety of tomato that isn't red when ripe, so yes, it's a thing! But watch out because a soft ripe tomato will be the dickens to fry.

This is an adaptable and forgiving recipe…excellent as is…and when I added cream for low fat milk, red pepper flakes with the onion and stems and a little butter in the sauté…it was to my sybaritic tastes, even better!

Totally agree with Jane that this is missing something. I was so excited to use Swiss chard and green tomatoes from my garden but this is not very exciting...maybe more cheese? Or a spicy tomato sauce? Love the idea but for the amount of work it was disappointing.

Had a bowl of green tomatoes to use so found this, and it was much better than I ever expected, it’s delicious! Only change I made (to simplify) was steaming the chard in the microwave instead of blanching, but probably could’ve put it in raw. Had lots of tomatoes and two chard bunches so added a little extra cheese/milk/egg and it filled a 3 qt baking pan.

Delicious! Used leeks instead of onion, and skipped blanching the chard. Nice to have all the necessary veggies in the garden.

Made it with beet greens, used flour instead of cornmeal, and skipped the blanching to add the leaves to the stir fry. Quite a nice preparation. Like a big omelette.

I have a garden, so what does 1 bunch of Swiss Chard actually mean? It would be helpful to have a weight equivalent.

Someone suggested using I ripe green tomatoes. Is that a thing?More work than I expected but quite good. Will do again, maybe try provolone which is less expensive than gruyere.
