The basketball coach began his career at Arizona playing for coach Lute Olson. Together, they helped the Wildcats win the NCAA championship in 1997. After playing two seasons in college, he joined the NBA Draft in 1998 and was chosen by the Vancouver Grizzlies as the second overall pick. In his rookie year, he received recognition as part of the NBA All-Rookie team, although it was cut short due to a labor disagreement.
He was later traded with Brent Price to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Jason Williams and Nick Anderson. In his first season with Sacramento, he teamed up with Chris Webber to become one of the best duos in the league. Together, they led the Kings to an NBA best-record of 61-21 and clinched the Pacific division title over their arch-rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Mike later signed a one-year contract with the New York Knicks, completing his journey back to the team that picked his dad, Henry, in the draft. But when his contract ended after the season, it didn't look like he'd be staying on. Instead, in October 2019, he started coaching at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix for 10 games before they all decided to go their separate ways.

Mike Bibby won a state championship in Arizona with his high school, Shadow Mountain High School, under Coach Jerry Conner. He then went to Arizona University and helped them win an NCAA Championship in 1997. In the championship game against the University of Kentucky, he scored 19 points in overtime. His sophom*ore year stats were impressive with averages of 17.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game, earning him the title of Pac-10 Player of the Year. Following this, he entered the NBA draft and was chosen as the second overall pick by the Vancouver Grizzlies.
Bibby scored an average of 13.2 points, made 6.5 assists, and got 2.7 rebounds per game when he was a rookie, and he kept improving steadily. After two more seasons, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings. He teamed up with Chris Webber and showed a strong performance against the LA Lakers in the 2002 Western Conference finals. Sacramento gave him a good contract in the off-season, and he played for 8 seasons with the team.
